The
Golf Course
Please let me introduce myself: My name is
Mary Ellen Calland Strack and I am a professional artist currently
residing in Springfield, Illinois. One of my interests is
to do original pastel paintings of golf courses and to capture
the grandeur and magic that the viewer remembers. In order
to work uninterrupted and with the greatest care, I take numerous
photos of the golf courses and after several preliminary sketches;
I develop the pastel work until it reaches the perfection
I desire. Above is a sample of the artwork Illini Country
Club put on their scorecard. Other Illinois golf courses that
I have portrayed include Panther Creek, Piper Glenn, and the
Rail. I have also painted St. Andrews in Scotland, Crooked
Stick in Indianapolis and Heather Glenn in North Carolina.
I have successfully sold my golf course paintings
and have received very positive responses from numerous clients.
Here is what Beate C. Minkovski, Executive Director of Woman
Made Gallery in Chicago had to say about my work: “It’s
photo realism, and even better than a photo. The details have
been brought out beautifully, and it’s almost mystical.
It makes me want to be there!”

The Garden
The garden images are taken from my own garden
and observations of flowers. The image might have started
in the garden but is usually recreated as it is being painted.
Combining many elements of color and light found in the garden
creates the composition. They are visually uplifting, exciting
and powerful.
The artwork you will find here is created
with museum grade materials, which are of the highest quality
materials that can be used. Time and care is taken to assure
impeccable professional standards.
Pricing varies from $400 - $5,000 depending
on size and the image, and if its framed or unframed. Please
